We need: staff writers, school representatives, ads representatives, and photographers. Remember, this is an amazing opportunity for college applications! After all, how many high students can attest that they worked for a full-fledged city-wide publication? Being part of Candid is a truly rewarding experience, and plus your name will be in the magazine for your peers to see! Each position has its separate application. STAFF WRITER:
Your job will be to interview people and write stories about the interesting facets of the Austin scene. You will be able to interact with various Austin residents, both teens and adults. You will have a chance to write music/shopping reviews, report undercover, help during photo shoots, and shape the content in the magazine.
SCHOOL REPRESENTATIVE: Your job is to represent your school for Candid and represent Candid in your school. You will have the opportunity to find interesting and unique people, create liaisons among students, and decide story ideas best suited for students. You will be able to act as a public relations representative for the magazine and help introduce the magazine to your peers. **Currently NOT taking applications. Will be open after Candid gets back on its feet.**
BUSINESS REPRESENTATIVE:
Make and sell ads–this is the most important and rewarding job! You will be able to experience first-hand experience in dealing with money and local companies. Love to talk to people or interested in business? This is the job for you! Advertising is what makes the magazine possible. Everything else comes second.
PHOTOGRAPHERS:
You will be in charge of photo shoots. This job requires quality equipment and experience with lighting, timing, and location as well as a flexible schedule.
STORY/PHOTOGRAPHY/ADS CONTRIBUTOR:
You’ll be a part-time member of the Candid staff. As a contributor, you’ll only be required to work as your schedule allows. Unlike a full-time staff member, your time commitment will be lenient and fully on your own terms.
FASHION ADVISOR:
Have an eye for color? Got a knack for assembling creative outfits? We need fashion advisers! Preferably one male and one female, fashion advisers help recruit students who agree to model for Candid issues. In addition, fashion advisers are in charge of providing outfit guidelines that correspond to certain photoshoots.
WEBMASTER:
HTML? CSS? Say what? If you understand the language of web technicians, then we need your help! The webmaster is in charge of coding layouts for the Candid website, as well as moderating the blog. However, most importantly, the webmaster is a source of guidance for all issues website-related.
